The folks over at Prevention magazine put together a list of cities across the United States that are worth your time to visit, but that you just never hear a lot about. I just love discovering towns and for the first time experiencing their beauty, as well as the food, the activities. Often times when you find these places everyone in the family thinks, “where has this town been all my life?”

If you are like me and on a budget, my travel these days consists of places I can get to in a car in 8 hours or less. And with the vacation season coming up, it’s the perfect time to take a look at these underrated locations. While we were at it we went ahead and found out the underrated towns in South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, and Florida. By absolute chance, I have been to this underrated town in North Carolina. We actually ended up there when we got lost. It is charming, beautiful and one of the most underrated parts of the Outer Banks.
