Give us all the tacos! Now there will be more to love in the tar heel state. A Tex-Mex chain opens its first restaurant in North Carolina.
Capital Tacos is now open in Charlotte and there is another restaurant on the way. The Tampa Bay based business is spacious at 2,200 square feet. You can find it at 1823 East Arbors Drive. The second location will be in the Cotswold area soon.
So, what is so special about this place? Plenty. What about me says I don’t love tacos and these look delicious. Capitol Tacos tells Channel 9 in Charlotte there is something for everyone on the menu. Co founder Josh Luger says they are dishing up a chef inspired menu. Everything is made to scratch and made to order. For all the information, check out details from WSOC TV right here.
Fish tacos, beef tacos, chicken tacos, pulled pork tacos (think Bubba Gump here), we love them all. Excited about this Tex-Mex chain opening its first restaurant in North Carolina.

Today, October 4th is National Taco Day. Of course, it’s a Tuesday as well! But let’s be honest there is never a bad time for tacos. Luckily there is no shortage of taco restaurants in Charlotte. Whether you like authentic, fancy, or Americanized Mexican there is an option for you. But how do you know which one to try? It can be tough to decide! I have my go-to favorites but what if I’m missing out on some that are even better? Turns out I might be. I have now set out on a mission to determine the best taco restaurants in Charlotte. My first step in this journey? To consult Yelp.
The rankings come from the review site Yelp and are based on the “highest rated” feature. I took the top 20 highest-rated restaurants from the search “taco”. For restaurants with more than one location, they are combined and ranked where the highest rated location was. There are some places I love that I was shocked didn’t make the list. Azteca on Woodlawn, RuRu’s Tacos and Tequila, and Paco’s Tacos are just a few! What’s your favorite spot? Let us know on social media. Happy National Taco Day. I know what I’ll be having for lunch today!
