Here’s The Last Time Someone From North Carolina Won the Mega Millions

If you don’t buy a ticket there is no chance you are going to win the Mega Millions jackpot. But just how many people do you know that have actually won from our area.  Here’s the last time someone from North Carolina won the Mega Millions jackpot.

The jackpot is now close to a billion dollars.  No one has won since April 2023. Even after you take out all the fees and taxes with winning you would still walk away with 464.2 million dollars.  Play your cards right and your family would be taken care of forever.

So how long has it been since anyone from North Carolina has won the big prize.  It has been quite a while according to the Gaston Gazette. The last time someone from North Carolina won the Mega Millions was in 2011.  The Jones family from Greenville, North Carolina is now very very wealthy. They won in September 2011. According to the Gaston Gazette, “On September 30, 2011, the family split the jackpot with a group from Los Angeles, who submitted their winning ticket on the same day. Each group took home $56.5 million.”

Mike Manheim from Greensboro, North Carolina won the year prior. His winnings in May 2010 earned him 12 million. It is fun to dream for sure and that is basically what it is, a dream.  Chances of winning the Mega Million lottery is one in 302,575,350.  Or let’s put it another way,  winning the jackpot is 300 times less likely than being hit by lightning.  Still, someone will win eventually.  It might as well be you.
