Carolina Residents Should Be Looking Out For Blue Pumpkin Buckets This Halloween

This Halloween Carolina residents should be on the lookout for blue pumpkin buckets. Trick-or-treaters that are carrying a blue pumpkin basket are more likely to be individuals with autism trying to enjoy Halloween free of sensory issues according to WBTV.
Many autism allies are asking individuals to bring down the intensity of lights and music if they see a person with a blue pumpkin coming towards them. This is in hopes to provide a safe and enjoyable Halloween for those with autism.
Jolea Blackwelder is the BlueSprig Clinical Director and Board Certified Behavior Analyst. She claims that “Halloween can be really overwhelming for kiddos on the spectrum just because [of] sensory overload.”
Jolea works with children with autism through personal individual therapy every day. However, she says that kids with autism aren’t the only individuals who would benefit from a less elaborate Halloween. Intense Halloween decorations can cause issues for people with PTSD and ADHD along with other groups.
Having sensory safe houses or an hour dedicated to being sensory safe for some houses can help these groups by making them feel more included.

Looking for some cool weather fun? Well, November is here and there are tons of things you could do solo, with your friends or family all month long. November is one of my favorite months because we are able to enjoy that brisk cool weather with the beauty of Fall all around us. The leaves are beautiful colors and we are getting cozy with our favorite hoodies and sweaters. It’s time to have some fun this month and decide what exactly you want to do.

I know I love hanging out in the Fall and finding such fun things to do. Although Thanksgiving is happening during the month and you get time with your family in the house, spend some time out in the streets too. It’s one of the only times during the year that the entire family can get together and enjoy some fun. So, what are your plans this November?
