New Walmart’s May Be Coming To The Carolinas
According to CNBC, Walmart currently has plans to open over 150 Walmart stores in the next five years. These new Walmart’s will make the drive to get groceries even easier for some.
The stores that Walmart plans to create will all be large-format stores. Some of these new Supercenters will be created from already existing smaller stores, but most will be brand new locations. Sam’s Club is also planning to expand and add on 30 new stores.
Currently, it is unknown where the new stores will be located and how much they will cost to create. There are already over 4,600 Walmart’s across the country and around 600 different Sam’s clubs.
Walmart is the largest private employer in the Unites States. The retailer has around 1.6 million different employees in the U.S. Walmart’s are so popular that around 90% of people living in the U.S. live within 10 miles of one.
Walmart is doing so well its stock hit an all-time high just last year. This has lead to the company’s recent announcement of a 3-for-1 stock split.
Twelve of the new Walmart store projects will be started this year and one smaller store will be changed to a Supercenter.
These new stores will have a more modern look and more sustainability features like energy-efficient lighting.
These 37 North Carolina Stores Were Fined For Overcharging Customers
With prices skyrocketing around us it can seem like what you are being charged is incorrect. I have no idea how that grocery bill adds up as quick as it does, and for nothing, it seems. And while most of the time it’s just the prices, they could be overcharging you. Every year the North Carolina state government audits stores to make sure they are charging consumers the correct listed prices and not overcharging. This year the NC Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services collected fines from 37 stores in 22 counties due to excessive price-scanner errors.
This is monitored by the state Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services in an attempt to keep stores honest. They believe many of the issues come from a lack of staff making it harder for stores to keep up. This essentially means that when rung up prices are showing higher than what they are marked on the shelves.
If you are shopping and realize an item rings up for a different price than advertised make sure to bring it to the attention of a manager. If you’d like to report a store for violations call 984-236-4750. Stores can be issued fines even if what they are doing isn’t breaking the law.
You can read more details about how these fines are issues and specific violations of individual stores on the NC Department of Agriculture and Consumers Services website. Keep reading to see which North Carolina stores have been charged fines for overcharging customers.
