North Carolina Woman Completely Shocked At Just How Big Her Lottery Prize Is

A North Carolina woman was completely shocked at just how big her lottery prize is. Imagine heading to Raleigh to collect one amount but then receiving so much more. This would almost be better in a way than knowing all along.

Here’s what happened. Kemisha Vandunk of Spring Lake in Cumberland County arrived in the state’s capitol to collect what she thought was a thousand dollars. What she didn’t know til she got there was she had actually won over $133,000 with the Cash 5 jackpot. Here’s what she tells the North Carolina Education Lottery, “When we got here and they told us how much it was, I was overjoyed, I’ve got the shakes, I am stoked right now”.

Vandunk says Monday started pretty much like any other day. She went to one of her favorite convenience stores in Spring Lake to buy her morning coffee and a $1 quick pick ticket. She arrived in Raleigh to lottery headquarters to pick up her prize. And things got very interesting for this new lottery winner.

After all was said and done and taxes and fees were taken out, Kemisha left with $95,321 dollars in her pocket. Cash 5 is unique. Because Cash Five is one of six lottery games where you have an option to buy. You can either buy a ticket at a retail location or through the lottery’s website. Players can also play on the North Carolina Education Lottery app.

If you want to win big you might have to go to New York. More Powerball and Mega Millions tickets have been sold there than in any other state.
