Oh we hate to see it. A longtime North Carolina manufacturing plant announces hundreds of layoffs and closure. The company told workers a few days ago and the news is sinking in.
A North Carolina Manufacturing Plant Announces Closure
According to wbtv.com, Keystone Powdered Metal Company in Troutman, North Carolina will permanently close and nearly 220 people will lose their jobs there. According to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining notification 217 people will be let go at the plant along Old Murdock Road off South Main Street in the Iredell County town.
Here’s The Timeline For The Layoffs
The human resources department provided a timeline for the layoffs. 45 employees are scheduled to be laid off in November, then on December 1, 67 more people will be out of a job. Phase 3 of the layoffs start February 1 when 33 employees will be let go. Phase 4 will be the last of it when 72 employees will be relieved of their duties on April 1, 2025.
There is no word on exactly why the plant is closing but the dismissals will reportedly be permanent. By the grace of God it has been awhile since I have been fired but I do know it is a very scary time. There are many concerns not the least of which is how to pay the bills. My husband and I both worked, we have to. It is not an option. Financial worries is the number one problem people face when out of work.
Some people face an identity crisis when they are let go from their job, especially if they have been on the job for many years. Another problem people face when being let go from their jobs is what to do with all the time on their hands.
