Here are the most underrated state parks in North Carolina and South Carolina. Love Exploring scoured the country to find those state parks that you just don’t hear about all the time. According to Love Exploring via msn.com, Hanging Rock State Park in Stokes County is the most underrated state park in North Carolina. It is pretty clear how it got its name. There is literally a big beautiful hanging rock at this park. The website describes Hanging Rock State Park, as a precarious-looking precipice reached via the 1.3 mile Hanging Rock Trail. And this makes sense, this is a go to destination for rock climbers. I do love a good waterfall and they have several. There is also a 12 acre lake. Wonder if I could do some fishing there?
Beaufort, South Carolina has been on my radar lately. Probably because it has been named the best small town to visit in the Palmetto State. It is also home to the most underrated state park in South Carolina. Hunting Island State Park near Beaufort makes the list. What is so special about this place? Plenty! The park has a 130 foot lighthouse, offering beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean. You can pass the time checking out the nature trails, do some boating or check out the indigenous birds in the area.
