Great Christmas Light Fight Season Debut Crowns North Carolina Family Winners
We probably all have that neighbor who goes over the top with their Christmas decorations. And, this time it really paid off for a North Carolina family who took home top honors in the season debut of the Great Christmas Light Fight competition. Great Christmas Light Fight Season 12 of the ABC competition show kicked off December 5. And, top prize went to the Campbell family in Oxford, North Carolina. According to the News & Observer, Great Christmas Light Fight picked the Campbells over three other families from across the country. And, that means the Campbells took home the $50,000 prize! Yvonne Campbell says her love of decorating goes back 20 years. But, the displays have grown over the years. Fast forward to present day, and the Campbells fill every inch of their 1.5 acres of land with lights. This year's theme was race cars. Some of the notable features of the display included a 20 foot tree, toy race track and even Santa's garage. The show's host said, "People can meander through there. There's trails. There's fun lights to see...we're pretty much out in the country, and for miles all around here, this is the place to be, and now I see why." How To Visit Oxford is about an hour from Raleigh, and you can see the Great Christmas Light Fight winning display for yourself. Just head to 6242 Bob Daniel Road. The lights will be up until December 29, and visitors can pop in between 6 and 9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 6-10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. The family just asks visitors to bring a canned food item to donate to Area Congregations in Ministry food pantry. From the pictures I saw, it truly is stunning. And, I can certainly see how the Campbells took home the top prize. It rivals anything I saw from my husband's famous neighborhood in Texas. Also, if you'd like to watch ABC's The Great Christmas Light Fight, check it out Thursdays at 8 and stream the next day on Hulu.
