Krispy Kreme ‘Elf’ Doughnuts Roll Out To Celebrate The Beloved Movie 20th Anniversary
Leave it to Krispy Kreme to knock it out of the park again with another edition of tasty themed treats. The North Carolina based Krispy Kreme is rolling out a special line in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the beloved movie, ‘Elf.’ Beginning November 24, Krispy Kreme ‘Elf’ Doughnuts Collection hits stores.
Of course, right now Krispy Kreme is right in the middle of their delicious Fall lineup. But, once Thanksgiving passes, we look forward to this one with great anticipation. The first-ever ‘Elf’ collection includes three new doughnuts and the return of the Santa Belly Doughnut, too. So, let’s get to it. Here’s what’s in the Krispy Kreme ‘Elf’ Doughnuts.
Buddy Snow Globe ‘Elf’ Doughnut
This one is an Original Glazed Krispy Kreme Doughnut dipped in sugar cookie light blue icing and white sprinkles. They top it with powdered sugary “snow” and a chocolate “Elf” piece. That’s adorable.
Buddy Makes Breakfast ‘Elf’ Doughnut
Once again, it starts with an Original Glazed Krispy Kreme Doughnut. Then, it’s topped with cake batter spaghetti buttercreme, milk chocolate colorful candies, sprinkles and a maple drizzle. Ahhh, it’s that special spaghetti dish Buddy made that was more sugar than any other ingredient! Yes, please.
Christmas Lights ‘Elf’ Doughnut
This one is the Original Glazed Krispy Kreme Doughnut dipped in rich chocolate icing, drizzled in green icing and topped with rainbow sprinkles and a chocolate “Elf” piece.
Santa Belly Doughnut
This one returns as a popular favorite from Krispy Kreme. It’s a cute play on Santa’s red belly filled with Cookies & Kreme filling and decorated with a belt buckle candy piece.
So, this delicious Krispy Kreme ‘Elf’ Doughnuts lineup is available for a limited time. And, then on December 12 look for the return of Krispy Kreme’s “Day of the Dozens.” That’s the day Krispy Kreme offers customers a $1 Original Glazed dozen with the purchase of any dozen at regular price. North Carolina Donut Shop Named The 2nd Best In The Country
Friday, June 2 is National Donut Day, and ahead of the celebration, Yelp released its second annual Top 100 US Donut Shops list. And apparently, NC has some delicious donuts. One North Carolina Donut shop was named the second-best in the entire country. The highly praised donuts come to us from Asheville. And 2nd best, that’s some high praise. They weren’t alone as 5 total North Carolina places made Yelp’s list. This includes donuts from Asheville, Fayetteville, and Concord among others.
Did you know there are donut trends? There sure are! According to Yelp the biggest donut trends in 2023 are:
- Outrageous Toppings
- Classic, Old Fashioned Donuts
- Offering Other Bakery Treats
While my current favorite donut spot, The Salty, didn’t make the cut, I’ll be sure to check out a couple of these locations. I enjoy a good gourmet donut but I also can’t turn down a hot now Krispy Kreme glazed donut. There just might not be anything better! The best donut I’ve had lately- a butterbeer one from the previously mentioned The Salty. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately for my waistline) it was a limited-time offering. So how did Yelp come up with these ratings that ranked a North Carolina Donut Shop 2nd best in the country? According to Yelp, they “identified businesses in the donuts category, then ranked those spots using a number of factors, including the total volume and ratings of reviews between January 1st, 2022 and March 31st, 2023.”
Keep reading to see the top 10 donut shops in the US and the other North Carolina locations that were recognized.
