This is my favorite time of year since I love Christmas movies and fires and wrapping up in warm blankets.  So, I guess you call that ‘cozy.’  And, there’s one…

This is my favorite time of year since I love Christmas movies and fires and wrapping up in warm blankets.  So, I guess you call that 'cozy.'  And, there's one town in particular considered the 'coziest' town in South Carolina.  According to New York Travel Guides, one of the 'coziest' towns in all of the country, and especially South Carolina, is Pendleton.

We tend to imagine the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas as 'magical.'  And, as such, we think of visiting some place equally as magical.  I blame all those Hallmark movies we consume.  They plant those seeds of the mythical small town where good old fashioned holidays jump off the screen.  And, anything is possible.  Cue the ice skating, hot cocoa, gingerbread contests and the kiss in the gazebo.

So, New York Travel Guides put together a list of '110 Coziest Winter Towns in America For A Magical Getaway.'  According to their article, they compared nearly 600 small towns looking at 3 categories to arrive at the coziest towns.  The publication compared popularity during winter with the public and photographers, cozy weather and cozy activities and atmosphere.

Then, low and behold, as my mom used to say, Pendleton, South Carolina wound up on the list as the only one from the Palmetto State.  As you imagine, several from Colorado as well as towns in Vermont and even Tennessee made the grade.  But, what about Pendleton, South Carolina caught their attention?

Well, according to The State, Pendleton has a huge historic district that blankets the town.  The population of around 3500 keeps it small.  And, many of the buildings have history dating back to the 1800s.  There's antiques, boutiques and plenty of festivals.  Then, at Christmas, Pendleton, South Carolina turns its attentions to their European style Christmas market.  Of course, they have a huge Christmas tree.  And, that probably helped Pendleton get recognition from Travel Awaits as a "Hallmark Christmas movie town."

So, it's easy to see why Pendleton is the 'coziest' town in South Carolina.  Read more from The State.  And, see New York Travel Guides'  full list from around the country.
