Dad Sleeps On Couch To Avoid Waking Up With Baby During Night
Redditt exploded about a dad who sleeps on the couch to avoid waking up with his baby at night. All parents understand how difficult those first few months are. It’s an adjustment for sure. However, you happily chose this deciding to have a child. Although stressful at times, I cherished every minute with our son. And, that included the 2 a.m. feedings. Apparently that is not the case with this dad. A new mom aired her grievances on Redditt shortly after the birth of her second child. She complained that unlike with the first child, this time her husband seemed to detach himself from parenting. She explained that her husband began sleeping on the couch while she was pregnant. He complained that she snored. That didn’t bother her. However, now that the son is 4 months old, the husband continues to sleep on the couch. He tells her to just come and get him if she needs help. Rather than just staying in the room with his family to help when needed, he’s removing himself from the equation.
So, that’s when the mom decided she had enough. After many sleepless nights, caring for the baby alone, she wheeled the bassinet to her husband on the couch. That infuriated the husband, according to this mom. Around midnight, she heard the baby crying without any attention from her husband. That’s when she made the decision to take her son back to her room. She says it was scary to realize she couldn’t trust him to care for the child. As you might imagine, the internet weighed in. And, the comments were not in favor of the father. Many suggested they need serious counseling. Hopefully, with this coming to a head, they will hash out the problem and come to an understanding. Luckily, I never had this problem with Charlie. He doted on our son. I didn’t have to ask for help. We shared in the care of our son. And, it was and still is the greatest pleasure of our lives.
