South Carolina One of the Worst States for Singles in 2023

As we slowly reach the end of January, it’s nice to know that Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. Are you single this year or spending Valentine’s Day with a partner? With inflation, dates are certainly getting more expensive so you may want to contemplate some date night ideas. For those celebrating another year unattached, then you may want to contemplate traveling or moving. Maybe you’re not having any luck in the dating pool. I know, it’s hard to find the “right” person. Sometimes it seems like your options are pretty slim to none. Well, in some cases this may be true.

A recent Wallet Hub study has determined that some states are just better for singles than others. Even crazier, some states are the absolute worst for singles. To determine the data, they used 30 key indicators of dating-friendliness to determine the best and worst states for singles. The results are in and the Carolinas are not looking so great for singles this year. South Carolina came in as one of the top 10 worst states for singles in 2023. As someone from South Carolina, I can agree that the dating pool is slim pickings for sure. Seriously. North Carolina came up pretty high on the list at No. 15. This means it is not the complete best but it is far better than what South Carolina is offering up for us.

Find Out the Smallest Towns in North and South Carolina

Itty, bitty, tiny. North and South Carolina are pretty big but there are also spots that are very, very small. I am not a girl that has ever lived in a “small town” so I don’t know how that is. But, once I got to college and started meeting people it blew my mind to know how many small towns there are within the states.

Reader’s Digest is naming the smallest town in every state. I am sure I have not been to too many small towns, besides being out in the country with family. Some of the towns on this list I have never, ever even heard it. Which is kind of crazy to me. Check out the two smallest towns in North and South Carolina and tell me what you think. I may have to ride on through just to see the energy.

  • North Carolina

    In North Carolina, the smallest town is Fontana Dam. Yeah, I have never heard of this one. This town is located in the Great Smokey Mountains area. It has been around unofficially since the 1940s but did not get incorporated until 2011. How wild is that? Crazy enough, the town only has 7 permanent residents but also visitors and seasonal staff that reside there. Have you ever been to or heard of Fontana Dam?

  • South Carolina

    Take a trip to the smallest town in South Carolina. Jenkinsville is South Carolina’s smallest town according to Reader’s Digest. Jenkinsville has only 43 residents. It is located in the middle of the state and mixed in the backwoods lake living. I am from South Carolina and have truly never heard of Jenkinsville. It is a small, tucked away town in the Carolinas.
