This North Carolina College’s Welcome Packets Includes Condoms
College campuses across the country are gearing up for the rush of incoming freshmen. However, those attending N.C. State University may be getting more than they bargained for. There are condoms, among other things, included in their welcome packets.
And parents aren’t too happy about it either. Some of them say they are concerned about the university’s welcome packets. WRAL News reports the packet contains a variety of items — not just condoms, but snacks and self-care products. And that’s not all. Parents said the packet included mentions of group sex and one-night stands.
WRAL got a firsthand look at the packet. Attached to the complimentary condoms was a piece of paper that mentioned different sexual activities. The university says the maker of the condoms actually included the note. School officials say they did not know about the note.
Meanwhile, several students WRAL interviewed say they aren’t bothered by the condoms or notes in the packets. “I’m not offended at all,” said Karim Aguilar Ortega, an NC State student. “People can do whatever they want with any of these items. I don’t see myself being in a position to be offended.”
The university said in a statement, “University Housing has been made aware of a questionable flyer from a condom manufacturer included in the packs and has stopped the distribution of the packs.”
The university, based in Raleigh, N.C. has since stopped distributing the packets.
