Professional Poker Player Lies About Cancer
Robert Mercer, who is a professional poker player, recently admitted that he lied about having terminal cancer in order to get money for his entrance fee into the World Series of Poker Main Event. Fox News says he made money off this claim.
Mercer allegedly started a GoFundMe at the time and raised over $30,000, and now he claims the whole story is a lie. He said, “I shouldn’t have told people I have colon cancer. I did that just as a spur-of-the-moment thing when someone asked me what kind of cancer I had.” He believes that he has a form of breast cancer and added, “I did lie about having colon cancer. I don’t have colon cancer. I used that to cover my situation.”
He doesn’t plan on giving the money he raised through GoFundMe back to the donors because he still has a form of cancer allegedly. He continued, “At the end of the day I lied to a lot of people because I was scared to tell the truth. And I guess I’ll have to pay for that.”
Why do you believe that this poker player is still lying about his cancer situation?
10 Benefits Of Tracking Your Medical History
Tracking your health history can feel overwhelming. Particularly for those managing complicated conditions or a number of different conditions, keeping records of all your doctor’s appointments, conversations, tests, lab results, and other procedures might feel like a significant amount of work. The same can be said for anyone in your family—particularly with children and older adults, who may not be able to keep track of their own medical histories.
Guava Health compiled a list of 10 benefits of tracking your medical history, drawing from public health sources and the recommendations of doctors and patient advocates.
