It happened around 6:45 a.m. in one of the busiest parts of north Charlotte. Northbound Brookshire Boulevard was shut down just north of Mount Holly Huntersville Road for more than two hours. Recovery efforts were slowed because the driver of the overturned concrete mixer was reportedly trapped for nearly an hour. According to MEDIC that person was transported to the hospital with serious injuries around 8 a.m. No further information about the driver’s condition was available.
More than two and a half hours after the incident, traffic was still slow in both directions of Brookshire Boulevard near the scene. Large tow trucks used cables and chains to upright the concrete mixer and pull it from an embankment.
