GoFundMe Raising Thousands For 90-Year-Old Veteran Found Pushing Carts To Survive
a GoFundMe account is raising thousands for a 90-year-old veteran who was found pushing grocery carts to survive

You would think in the most prosperous country in the world an aging veteran could retire comfortably. Right now, a GoFundMe account is raising thousands for a 90-year-old veteran who was found pushing grocery carts to survive.
How It All Started
A former news anchor in Louisana went to pick up a few grocery items on Memorial Day. She noticed an elderly man bringing in carts from the parking lot. She struck up a conversation with the man and discovered he was an Air Force veteran. He was working in the Lousiana heat to make ends meet. Dillion McCormick is his name. Dillion said he is working to eat. He needs $2,500 a month to live. He says he only gets $1,100 from Social Security.
Good People Pitch In To Help
The former news anchor Karen Swenson decided to start a GoFundMe account for Dillion. Karen was hoping to raise 35K. The account raised over 220K in 24 hours. According to WCNC, here is what Karen said "Thank you to all who donated to Mr. McCormick's fund. Together, we raised more than $220,000 in 24 hours, enough for him to retire!! Should he choose to remain working, it will be just that - his choice," "No longer will the 90-year-old veteran have to push shopping carts in triple-digit heat to put food on his table."
