Charlotte Is Ninth In The Nation For Bed Bugs
Are you sharing your bed with creepy crawlers? You might be. Charlotte is ninth in the nation for bed bugs.
According to a new study by pest control company Orkin, it’s not just Charlotte. North Carolina has three of the worst cities for bed bugs. Greensboro and Raleigh-Durham also ranked in the top 25.
Bed bugs are tiny and insidious. They can make their way into your home via luggage and clothing. And once you have them, they’re hard to get rid of. They are a frequent problem in hotels.
The study once again ranks Chicago, New York and Philadelphia as the top three worst cities for bed bugs. But North Carolina’s Greensboro area had the highest year-t0-year jump in bed bug problems, moving up 25 spots to land in the top 20.
Orkin says female bed bugs can deposit one to five eggs a day and may lay 200 to 500 eggs in their lifetime. Meanwhile, they can survive for several months without a meal. Experts recommend inspecting your home regularly to avoid an infestation.
