Many kids grow up dreaming of careers they hope to pursue. For a Matthews North Carolina woman that dream centered around acting. Miia Harris stars as “Clawdeen Wolf” in Nickelodeon’s “Monster High: The Movie.” According to WSOC, the movie released in October. Harris, who knew as a young girl she wanted to be an actress, always wanted her parents to move to Los Angeles. And now, after many auditions and years since that dream began, it came true. The Matthews North Carolina woman auditioned virtually just before leaving for college. She says she booked the role just weeks after starting school. She points out her passion for transforming into characters drives her love of acting. This role proves particularly exciting since Harris gets to be a purple werewolf. She says, “If you have this passion for something at the end of the day it doesn’t even really matter if you succeed because it’s what you love to do.” The sequel is set to release later this year.
The Monster High Fashion Doll line by Mattel inspired the movie. The synopsis describes the plot centering around Clawdeen, who starts attending Monster High. She soon discovers a plot that would destroy her school and reveal her half-human, half-werewolf identity. Watching the trailer, I see a bit of Sky High, Harry Potter and Glee. It’s described as fantasy/musical. There are several moments where the cast breaks into song and dance reminiscent of Glee. Hopefully for Miia Harris, this is only the beginning. We wish her the best as she pursues her lifelong dream.

Instagram makes it easy to admire and envy the world’s biggest stars. There’s no shortage of evidence that the good life is good, from A-list movie stars to major musicians to pro ball players and comedians who have their own sitcoms. On rooftop bars, at exclusive clubs, at backstage parties, and at restaurants where regular people can’t make reservations, they post pictures of themselves with other big shots.
Nonetheless, the vast majority of these celebrities were born and raised outside of Hollywood, rising to stardom from humble beginnings in ordinary small towns and cities across the country.
