Bride Canceled Wedding Because Guests Refuse To Pay Entrance Fee
I hear about so called “Bridezillas” from time to time. These are the spoiled and entitled brides who take the “it’s all about me” motto to disgusting limits. But, this one takes the cake so to speak. According to cafemom.com, this bride canceled her wedding because guests refused to pay her ridiculous “entrance fee” to attend her event. The groom was not on board with the fee by the way, and they ultimately broke up over it. The drama went viral on Reddit following the bride’s rant on Facebook. In her post, she proceeds to throw shade at pretty much everyone in her life blaming them in part for the mess. She explains how she met this love of her life at 14. Over the years their love grew deeper, and they knew they were destined to be together. The engagement took place at age 18. She found she was pregnant with their son at age 20.
At this point, she says they put wedding plans on hold to become more financially stable. They saved $15,000 for a wedding. However, after touring venues the decision rested between two spots they liked. Then, “a local psychic” encouraged them to choose the more expensive site. But, that meant more funds, flights to Aruba at a total of $60,000. So, they asked friends and family to chip in with an entrance fee to help pay for the dream wedding. If you’re wondering, that fee was $1500 each! The bride made clear in the invites that no contribution meant no invitation to the “once in a lifetime party.” The maid of honor offered up $5000. The groom’s family contributed $3000. They needed much more. Ultimately, the couple started a GoFundMe campaign. The RSVP activity was slow with only 8 checks coming in. The online campaign raised a mere $250. When things went south, the groom’s family took back their offer.
The bride canceled the wedding, broke off the engagement and referred to friends as “snakes” she had to cut off. The average wedding in the US is around $28,000. But, this was too much for friends and family to take. Especially with the angry tone of the bride. One Reddit commenter says the groom “dodged a nuke.” I agree!
