Cinnamon Has Unbelievably Incredible Health Effects
Most people enjoy cinnamon in baked goods, sweet treats, and teas, but did you know that cinnamon is actually good for you? For thousands of years people have been using cinnamon for its medical properties according to Healthline. In more recent years, science has been proving that cinnamon really is good for you.
Cinnamon has powerful medicinal properties
Cinnamon is made out of the inner bark of trees that are scientifically known as Cinnamomum. The spice has been used for centuries and dates back to Ancient Egypt. Cinnamon used to be a rare spice, but now cinnamon is more affordable and available to most people. The oily part of cinnamon is what gives cinnamon its distinct smell and flavor. This part is also extremely high in cinnamaldehyde. Cinnamaldehyde is what scientists believe is responsible for most of cinnamon’s powerful health effects.
Cinnamon has a ton of antioxidants
Cinnamon is full of many powerful antioxidants, including polyphenols. One study that was done showed that cinnamon can in fact significantly increase antioxidant levels in blood. It also showed that cinnamon reduced markers used to measure inflammation.
Cinnamon can reduce the risk of heart disease
A link has been found between cinnamon and a lower risk for heart disease. Having only around 1.5 grams of cinnamon a day has been shown to reduce triglycerides, total cholesterol, and blood sugar in those who have metabolic disease. It also reduces blood pressure when consumed regularly for at least 8 weeks.
