Social Media Ketchup Hack I Wish I Knew Sooner
Some of the best fast food fries come from McDonald’s in my opinion. Also, dipping them in ketchup on the go comes with challenges. I’m excited to try this social media ketchup hack I just found out about. By now, most of us know about the hack encouraging customers to order fries “without salt.” The thinking behind this is the fries are fresher because a new order without salt has to be made on the spot. Delish published an article concerning the hack and Instagram users claimed the no salt fries were hotter and fresher. Many employees became fed up with customers using the hack. Some say they grow tired of handing out extra salt packets at the window. However, this one is just for customers and won’t inconvenience employees in the least!

My feeling is that tip is brilliant. I don’t know why I never considered opening the packet horizontally. It’s probably because there’s a little dotted tear line in the upper corner of the packet persuading us to only tear there. Therefore, I always follow the prompt. In researching for this story, I ran across lots of different tips folks across the universe have for ordering the best possible fries. Of course, I have no idea if they legit work. But, everyone seems to have input on the topic. According to an article in The New York Times, a former employee says to ask for a receipt with your order. He says this may signal to the staff you could be a “gapbuster.” A gapbuster is a mystery shopper who would need a receipt to be reimbursed by their company. It could possibly mean you get the absolute freshest order. At least that’s how they do it in the U.K.
The fast food giant sells about 9 million pounds of fries daily. That comes to about 3.29 billion yearly. So, that’s a lot of orders across the globe. Regardless of how you order your fries, you might consider the social media ketchup hack. I certainly know it’s on my list to do!
