Charlotte Restaurants With A Unique Approach Open In New Space
My love of all things food related keeps me searching for new “foodie” experiences. And, these Charlotte restaurants approach dining from a food as the story-teller perspective. Executive chef and owner, Sam Hart, reopens Counter and sister restaurant Biblio in a new space December 14. In the CharlotteFive story, Hart points out the new space allows the chefs to really showcase their skills. To enhance the dining experience, the menus are not made available. Hart compares it to finding out the ending of a movie or punchline of a joke. The element of surprise keeps it exciting. And, you won’t see photos posted beforehand on their social media platforms either. So, what’s dining at Counter all about? They offer a 10-course or 14-course tasting menu. Of course, the 14-course meal includes more artists in the theme. Plus, diners experience more unique ingredients.
First, diners enter through wine-focused Biblio. Then, they take their seats hidden away in Counter. Hart says the re-opening menu tells a “Modern” story. So, items honor 20th century artists, including Jackson Pollock and Andy Warhol. And, the experience is quite intimate. There’s only 16 diners per seating. However, don’t let the exclusivity fool you. Hart says the team at Counter pulls off fine dining in an unpretentious manner. Furthermore, he says the new space features an open bar that faces the kitchen. Consequently, diners see the action unfolding. Of course, that appeals to me. Unfortunately, the “season pass” already sold out. But, reservations are available online. And, take a look at past menus. Cost for the 10-course meal is $175. The 14-course fare is $235. The Charlotte restaurants are located at 2001 W. Moorehead St.
Chefs prepare each dish with artistic flair. These look like framed works of art!
And, it’s high end dining with a chance to have whimsical fun!
Biblio takes a very unusual approach to wine and food pairings.
