Taco Bell Launches New Menu Item
Our love for Taco Bell runs deep. I started ordering the Mexican Pizza way back before it became legendary. And, now Taco Bell launches a new menu item nationwide on December 22. According to chewboom.com, Taco Bell successfully tested the Salsa Verde Grilled Chicken Burrito at locations this year. So, it becomes available nationwide starting Thursday. I’m a big fan of anything containing salsa verde. This dish starts with a warm flour tortilla filled with grilled marinated white meat chicken. But, that’s not all. The tortilla, filled with seasoned rice, reduced-fat sour cream and a blend of cheddar and mozzarella and pepper jack cheese, also has a green chile sauce. As Taco Bell launches the new item, they make it available a la carte for $2. It is part of the Cravings Menu.
Some speculate the tomatillo based sauce might pack a slight kick if it resembles a sauce the brand used to offer on the menu. The new Salsa Verde Burrito joins the Chipotle Ranch Grilled Chicken Burrito added to the Cravings Menu as well. Apparently, the company took the salsa verde sauce off the menu in 2016. And, fans dreamed of its return in some fashion all these years. The die-hards hope the new item contains that same familiar sauce. However, if not, bottles of the sauce are still available at Walmart and on Amazon. But, discerning critics point out that it’s not quite the same. The chain tests many items from time to time. Of course, they don’t all make the cut to go nationwide. And, they don’t all stick around as permanent fixtures. Ultimately, fan popularity drives decisions. Just look at the Mexican Pizza. I, for one, think that should never go away again! And, you can bet I’m happy to test out the new burrito.
North Carolina's Favorite Mexican Fast Food Is What?
It may not be Taco Tuesday but it’s always a good time for tacos. They are one of the most popular foods in the country and for good reason. In fact, our overall consumption of the Mexican food going up by 12.8% since the start of the pandemic. I know for me it was sone of the first restaurants I wanted to go back to in person, because queso just isn’t the same to go! (Neither is that extra large margarita). This prompted data analysts at the market research firm TOP Data to seek out the most popular Mexican fast food in America.
To do this, they analyzed a combination of GPS tracking data from all the major taco restaurant chains. Also considered were the results of a survey of 1,000 Americans. They concluded that Taco Bell has seen the most growth this year with a 4.5% increase in visits since the start of the 2022. But the most popular? That title goes to Chipotle Mexican Grill which won the top spot in 17 states.
Taco Bell was the runner-up, claiming the crown in 11 states. Others that won at least one state include Qdoba Mexican Eats, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Del Taco, Baja Fresh, and Taco John’s.
