New Record For World’s Largest Pizza-See The Pics
There’s a world record for just about anything you can dream up. So, of course there’s a “World’s Largest Pizza” record. And, since it’s one of the world’s most popular foods, it makes sense someone is always working to break that one. Just last month, a YouTuber in Los Angeles set the new record for world’s largest pizza at just under 14,000 square feet. According to The Mirror, his pizza was formed with 13,653 pounds of pizza dough. It took nearly 5000 pounds of marinara sauce, 8800 pounds of cheese and more than 600,000 pepperonis. The ingredients, supplied by Pizza Hut, made a pizza that measured 68,000 slices. You may wonder how in the world anyone cooks a pizza that big. The creation spread out several dough sheets that were sprayed with a fire hose to distribute the sauce. The YouTuber then zip lined above the pizza sprinkling it with cheese.
As far as the “cooking” process goes, that’s where more creativity was involved. He used a “pizza zamboni” with heaters to roll over the pie. All in all, it took 48 hours to set a new record for world’s largest pizza. The former largest pizza ever made was in Rome, Italy. It was over 13000 square feet and took 23 people 8 hours to finish in 2012. So, I’m guessing it may be a while before anyone attempts the feat again. That makes those huge pizzas you plan to consume during the big game coming up seem like small potatoes! And, by the way, there’s other variations of records when it comes to pizza. Maybe you’d like to try your luck breaking the record for the “longest pizza.” It was created in California in 2017. It took 54 hours to create.
