The Rudest Things People Say To Someone With Anxiety
I can so relate to this latest study about the rudest things people say to someone with anxiety. I have suffered from this for as long as I can remember, but when I was a little girl, no one called it “anxiety”. It was just something to try to deal with as best as you could.
Here is how the Oxford dictionary describes anxiety:
noun
noun: anxiety; plural noun: anxieties
-
a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome.
“he felt a surge of anxiety”
Yeah, this sounds about right. I have been forthcoming about the fact that I suffer from this, I take medication for it daily. It helps some but it is always there. Most of the time what I worry about never comes true, and I know this but it doesn’t stop my brain from thinking what it thinks. Sometimes I get so anxious I almost pass out. What works for me are medication, prayer and breathing through it. Some people find therapy useful as well.
It doesn’t help when people say the wrong thing if you confide in them that you suffer from anxiety. Kelly McKenna, a licensed clinical therapist shared with the
Huffington Post, The rudest things people say to someone with anxiety.
1) It’s all in your head, stop worrying. 2) Calm down. 3) At least you don’t have what so and so has.
4) Just power through it. 5) It’s not that big a deal.
It’s just good to keep in mind, that not everyone’s illness is visible.
For real, you know what helps me with my anxiety, vacation! Check this out:
The Best Beach In South Carolina? This Is What Travel + Leisure Says
There is no shortage of fantastic beaches up and down the east coast. And we are lucky enough to have some of those here in South Carolina. The experts over at Travel + Leisure ranked the best east coast beaches. And they named two from the Palmetto state. To be fair, they included two from every state on the east coast. But it’s still interesting to see what the say the best beach in South Carolina is. Every spot on this list has something for everyone including of course the sand and water, but also activities, restaurants, and ways to relax.
From the rocky coastline of Maine, through the quaint New England beach towns, through the Outerbanks of NC, the Lowcountry of SC, and of course Florida! Whether you want to fly or drive there is an east coast beach that you’ll love. I’ve only been to one of Travel + Leisure’s picks for South Carolina, and coincidentally one for North Carolina as well. I have to say of both of those, I’d probably rank a different location above them. But I’m not the expert! Keep reading to see what Travel + Leisure ranked as the best beach in South Carolina! You’ll find a full detailed analysis of North and South Carolina, and then keep reading to see the winners from the other east coast states. You can read the full Travel + Leisure article here.
