Father And Son Brew Team Opening Craft Brewery In North Carolina
Huntersville, North Carolina take note. A father and son brew team are opening a craft brewery in downtown this Spring. WSOC reports Wagner and Trey Ramsey chose 102 Gilead Road for 760 Craft Works. And, if that address sounds familiar to those of you in the area, there’s a reason. It’s what used to be the Huntersville Police Department. I think we can all appreciate the irony of a brewery on what used to be police territory. Anyway, Wagner Ramsey has had a passion for home brewing since the early 1990s. Perhaps that passion came from his former career. Ramsey spent years as a can supplier to other brewers. But, the family interest didn’t stop with Wagner. His son, Trey, started showing interest in the business. Eventually, he got his Cicerone certification for skilled beer pros. And, apparently nearly every part of the industry has professionals with this credential.
The father and son brew team began the process of making their dream come true several years ago. First, they bought a commercial pilot system. That’s the secondary system used by breweries. Therefore, historically they’ve been used to “test” brews before scaling up, according to research. They hope to develop an inviting gathering space that they say feels like the front porch at grandma’s house. The 8000 square foot space features a 2400 square foot taproom. And, the venue has a roll up garage door offering the option of creating an indoor-outdoor space.
And, as for the inspiration for the name, it’s local too. “760” refers to the elevation line when Lake Norman is at “full pond.” Also, the brewery uses pine reclaimed from South Carolina. Furthermore, they plan to offer wine, as well. I love brews, and I love families working together. So, we wish the best of luck to the father and son brew team and look forward to visiting.
