Plans For A New Costco In South Carolina Move One Step Closer

Earlier this year I wrote about the possibility of a new Costco coming to Indian Land, South Carolina. But, after all this time what’s happening with the project? Well, I decided to check in on the latest. And, here’s what I found. Yahoo News referencing The Herald says the county planning commission was scheduled to hear the case this week. And, after that, the proposal has to move through the process of going to Lancaster County Council, public hearing and approval.
So, what once was speculation looks as though it’s getting closer to being realized. The proposed Costco coming to Indian Land would be part of a growing area known as “The Exchange.” And, if you travel that stretch of Johnston Rd. or Charlotte Highway as we do, you know it sits very close to the Ballantyne area. Specifically, it’s south of Possum Hollow Rd.
Of course, there are plenty of Costco stores in the Charlotte area. However, South Carolina locations include Spartanburg, Columbia and Greenville. So, in many ways I welcome the convenience of a Costco in the Indian Land area. As mentioned, I live very close to the proposed site. But, in previous reports some folks in the area worried about extra traffic caused by a big box retailer in a space that already seems very congested.
Regardless, the possibility of Costco coming to Indian Land, South Carolina is moving through the channels on its way to approval. For more on the story and where the process stands, see the full report. And, we’ll keep watching to see what happens next.

It’s wonderful to have thriving, successful companies in your state. These companies provide jobs and a boost to the local economies of the cities they call home. But it’s also important to have reputable and trustworthy companies. Each of these is located in a different city including North Charleston, Greenville, Spartanburg, Hartsville, and Rock Hill. The 700 companies on this list came from a pool of 3,100. You can view the full study, list, and analysis via Newsweek.
Does it matter to you if a company is trustworthy? For me personally, it is more important as a potential employee than as a consumer. In the latter scenario, I’m more apt to buy what fills my need at the right price. Though I know many many individuals to whom it makes a big difference.
