Healthy food is often more expensive than foods that typically are not that good for you. It sometimes means that some folks do not choose a clean and healthy diet because cost is a factor. This North Carolina community garden hopes to change that and simply says “take what you need”.
You will find this garden behind Garinger High School in Charlotte, North Carolina. It is run by Eddie Watt according to Channel 9. Eddie is a member of “The Bulb” a non profit organization dedicated to providing healthy food to local people.
The garden has been around for a while. It started seven years ago with a mission to reduce food insecurities in the community. They are run completely by volunteers and they are really making a difference.
Two thousand pounds of food was grown and distributed last year. Eddie says people can make a contribution if they are able and if not, that’s fine too. This North Carolina community garden says “take what you need”. Isn’t that lovely. To learn more get details right here from our source, Channel 9 in Charlotte.
