Apparently, the Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy is billed as a “chilling cocktail experience in Charlotte that brings four of his stories off the page and onto the stage as told through the Poe Historians while pairing them with four classic cocktails.” The event takes place at The Palmer Building in Charlotte with several available shows in August.

Edgar Allan Poe’s life, like his works, was filled with dark twists and turns. His father abandoned the family, and his mother died when he was young. Poe married a teen cousin who died young of Tuberculosis. And, Poe himself, died young at 40 under mysterious circumstances.

Ingredients
- 2 ounces rye whiskey
- 1 ounce sweet vermouth
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
