Mega Millions Fever Heats Up For This South Carolina Store On A Winning Streak

Wherever  you go these days, all the talk revolves around the record setting Mega Millions Lottery jackpot.  And, since months pass away without a big winner, the pot continues to build.  However, there’s still impressive prizes available even if you don’t score the billion plus prize.  So, we turn our attention to a little gas station/convenience store in Orangeburg, South Carolina that seems to be on a winning streak lately.  According to The State, Gaz-Bah on Chestnut St. had two Mega Millions winning tickets in the past two weeks worth hefty sums.

The most recent winning ticket ultimately matched enough numbers to be worth $10,000.  But, just ahead of the Mega Millions drawing July 14, the store also sold a ticket worth $2 million.  The store is located near South Carolina State University.  And, this might lead some superstitious folks to think there’s some lucky vibes coming from the store.  However, realistically we know it’s just a happy accident as Bob Ross would say.

As we know from following all things Mega Millions lately, South Carolina is one of 11 states that allow winners to remain anonymous.  Sorry, North Carolina.  You aren’t on the list.  And, I definitely think that’s the route I plan to take when I get lucky!  I advise anyone I know not to immediately go out there buying every insanely expensive shiny object you can find.  I know it would be tempting.  But, get your financial ducks in a row as privately as possible.  And, then decide how to proceed.  Cash it out and roll around in it?  Possibly.

Anyway, congratulations to the latest recipient of one of Mega Million winning tickets at this lucky South Carolina store.  Other $10,000 winning tickets from Tuesday’s drawing came from Myrtle Beach and Travelers Rest, South Carolina.  The Friday, August 4 Mega Millions jackpot is an estimated $1.25 billion.  Good luck!

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that most of these locations are on the water. South Carolina is known for its grand strand and Lowcountry beaches. Some are all small-town vibes, while others are close enough to larger metros if that’s what you need! Now I just figure out how to grow my retirement fund by 100x or maybe just hit the lottery. I could handle working a fun part-time job while enjoying all these towns have to offer. Oh well, at this point I’ll just dream!

    Population: 33,638

    One of the larger places on this list is Myrtle Beach. The availability of golf, restaurants, activities for the grandkids, shopping, and more make this an attractive place to retire. One thing is for sure there is no shortage of things to do in Myrtle!

    Varnville is a small town in Hampton County, South Carolina. It’s roughly equidistant between Charleston and Savannah making visiting one of the historic cities easy and convenient. Living in Varnville can give retirees the small town lifestyle, but proximity to more amenities.

    If lake life is what you’re looking for in retirement India Hook is a great option. This small suburb of Rock Hill is just across Lake Wylie from Tega Cay. You’re close to Charlotte and Rock Hill but can enjoy all the benefits of waterfront (or close) living.

    You’ll find Socastee just west of the Myrtle Beach International Airport near the Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge. This historic town is home to one of South Carolina’s only swing bridges.  The Intracoastal Waterway runs right through Socastee making it great for watersports and keeping that boat you’ve always dreamed of owning.
