An email was sent out and there is a sign posted at the job site. This North Carolina home furnishing company shuts down laying off all employees abruptly.
This furniture company has an office and plant in Taylorsville, North Carolina. Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams also has operations in other parts of North Carolina. According to the truck gate at the Taylorsville plant, the following locations will shut down right away. People who work in these areas need not come to work on Monday. Channel 9 reports they are : The main plant in Taylorsville, the Frame Plant in Hiddenite, NCDC: Statesville and all home office workers.
But why is it all shutting down rendering hundreds of people out of jobs? Channel 9 reports interim CEO Chris Moye says the closure was directly due to the current economic climate and financial reasons. Obtained by Channel 9, Moye wrote in an email to employees ,“While we have been buoyed by the support of our wonderful employees, like yourself, Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams has recently and unexpectedly learned that we are unable to secure critical financing to continue business operations. “In the wake of this unfortunate development, the Company will sadly need to wind down operations and terminate the employment of our employees beginning on August 26, 2023.”

The remaining 6% of postings were attributed to entry-level jobs.”
