Garth and Trisha Coming To Charlotte But Not To Perform
Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood will be coming to Charlotte, North Carolina in a few weeks but not to perform. They are coming to build houses.
Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter have retired from public life recently but their life changing work with Habitat for Humanity will continue. Some of their helpers are two of country music’s biggest superstars.
Longtime friends of theirs, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, are set to head up the Carter Work Project for Habitat for Humanity. Between October 1-6, the foundation hopes to build 27 homes for low income families in Charlotte, North Carolina. The former President and his wife stepped down after serving others for 35 years building homes for low income families.
I had an opportunity to meet the Carters when they were in North Carolina building homes back in the late eighties. I was a fledgling reporter then and was sent out to interview Jimmy Carter. He said he would do the interview if I would help him build a house and so I did. It was an experience and an interview I will never forget.
