2 South Carolina Cities Named Favorite Thanksgiving Getaways By HGTV
Oh, how I love this season. Although I adore Christmas, I really, really love Thanksgiving. It’s probably due to the food! But, HGTV has some advice for those looking for quick travel over the Thanksgiving holiday. And, 2 South Carolina cities made the HGTV ‘Favorite Thanksgiving Getaways’ list.
I always think that since the Thanksgiving break for most folks is typically short compared to Christmas or summer holidays it’s important to plan a quick 3 or 4 day escape. And, HGTV’s list is perfect for that. A lot of people have family in for the holiday. And, then they either stay over for the whole weekend. Or, after they go back home you want a weekend getaway with your household. Either way, you need a place to visit!
And, the first South Carolina city making the HGTV favorite Thanksgiving getaways list is Greer, South Carolina. It’s super close to Greenville, South Carolina at about 10 miles away. Greenville is one of our favorite places in the South. We lived there early on in our radio career just about the time BMW came to Greer. The whole area exploded in growth over the following decades. And, it’s so charming. In fact, HGTV once named it as a ‘Best Small Town in America.’ HGTV points to Greer’s downtown district filled with shops, dining and breweries. The city hosts special events regularly with a park and amphitheater. And, many visitors consider Campbells Covered Bridge a must visit. So, I agree this could be a delightful little trip pre or post Thanksgiving.
Then, HGTV also spotlighted nearby Spartanburg, South Carolina on their list of ‘Favorite Thanksgiving Getaways.’ That’s another South Carolina city we enjoyed during our time living in Greenville. Spartanburg was a mill town in early days. Also, it became known as the Hub City in the 19th century after becoming a major railroad intersection. And, HGTV points out the culinary scene growth that merges Southern dishes with international. There’s no shortage of music, museums and galleries. It is quite charming. So, take some time to explore HGTV’s full list. And, maybe plan a trip to these 2 South Carolina cities named favorite Thanksgiving getaways. Plus, check out Greenville, too!
