OpenTap Self Pour Bar Delights South Charlotte With 64 Taps And Rotating Food Truck Calendar
It’s no secret Charlotte has a bustling culinary and brew scene. And, South Charlotte’s OpenTap self pour bar is a fairly new spot that we have fallen in love with.
About OpenTap Self Pour Bar
OpenTap self pour bar opened on Carmel Rd. in South Charlotte in March of 2023. And, we finally got a chance to visit this weekend. I must say we plan to return and bring friends!
The husband and wife duo of Scott and Brooke Thorne combined their passion for an active outdoor lifestyle with a love of beer to create this welcoming spot for all ages.
And, I mention ‘all ages’ because we saw plenty of families on a beautiful Saturday afternoon gathering with toddlers as well as little ones in strollers. Plus, others met up with their teens and 20-something kids for a nice outing.
There’s lovely outdoor seating and an area for kids to play. And, I have my eye on the fire pit surrounded by rocker Adirondack seating.
Also, in addition to the dozens of beers, ciders and seltzers on the wall, OpenTap self pour bar has a craft soda section curated by their young son, Benjamin. According to AXIOS Charlotte, Benjamin has his own business card as ‘kid coordinator.’
The concept is simple. You simply provide a form of payment upon entering OpenTap self pour bar. Then, you’re given a wrist band sort of like a Disney magic band that you then hold up to the tap of your choice and begin filling your glass.
You see exactly how many ounces and how much you’re being charged. Get as much or as little of as many different varieties as you wish. And, you settle up at the end. I love self pour because it allows you to try small amounts of different products.
I had a couple of delicious fruity sour varieties that were super refreshing. They were the perfect compliment to my food truck meal that we must discuss!
Food Trucks At OpenTap Self Pour Bar
OpenTap self pour bar hosts a rotating schedule of food trucks to enjoy during your visit. They publish a calendar so you can check to see when your favorite will be there.
We were lucky enough to be there on the same day as Chop Chop Red Pot. The hubby got some wings and a side of their Whiskey Braised Collard Greens which he proclaimed the best he ever had.
I went with some Pork Belly Burnt Ends in Asian sauce that I couldn’t stop eating. I paired with the Mac and Cheese Bites that were delicious.
