A new study by Travel+Leisure reveals 12 beach towns they consider the best on the East Coast. Just think of the hundreds of beaches they examined and determined 3 beach towns right here in the Carolinas are the best. According to the Charlotte Observer, “of all the beloved coastal getaways on the Eastern seaboard, 3 in North Carolina and South Carolina made the list.
Duck, North Carolna
Of course an Outer Banks beach town made the list. Coming in at #7 on the list of 12 best is Duck, North Carolina. The report credits the relaxed lifestyle of Duck where you can really “kick back and take it easy”. Travel+Leisure suggests getting around on bike. Or taking advantage of the many water sports or just checking out the town’s park.
Sullivan’s Island, South Carolina
Coming in right behind Duck is Sullivan’s Island, South Carolina. It’s a 2.5 mile island close to Charleston, South Carolina with easy beach access and incredible restaurants. About 2 thousand people live on the island year round. The travel experts say rent a bike and explore! Or enjoy fishing, kayaking or paddle boarding.
Head on down South to Hilton Head, South Carolina. Oh man is this place beautiful. I can see why it made the list. When we are there we like to rent those adult sized trikes. There are more than 12 miles of sandy beaches, over 30 golf courses, the food is to die for and the fishing is excellent. You will find Hilton Head about an hour from Savannah, Georgia.
