Is That Notice About A Required Pet License In Charlotte Really A Thing?

So many of us are avid pet lovers and treat our furry friends as members of the family. But, are pet licenses in Charlotte North Carolina really a thing? Plenty of folks are receiving notices in the mail and find themselves a bit confused.

Well, according to AXIOS Charlotte, yes, pet licenses in Charlotte really are a legitimate thing. Folks are asking if the yellow card about a ‘notice to license your pet’ they received in the mail should be acknowledged or tossed.

Apparently, even though the return address is from Irving, Texas, pet owners receiving the notice do need to take action with CMPD Animal Care & Control. A company called Pet Data is contracted out by CMPS Animal Care & Control to send out the notices with fees going to the city of Charlotte.

And before you worry this will be a costly burden, the fees are nominal. They start at just $10 for a one year license for a pet that has been spayed or neutered. It’s $25 for 3 years. However, the fee is $30 if your pet is not spayed or neutered. Plus, owners 62 and over with spayed or neutered pets aren’t required to license them.

Fees are payable through mail or online or directly to the Animal Shelter. So, it’s not likely you would get into hot water not being aware of the requirement and failing to comply right away. However, if an incident involving your pet needing assistance from CMPD Animal Care & Control arises, the license will be checked. And, warnings are issued for non compliance.

And, if in the rare instance you do need their involvement, having a license can make the process go smoothly. So, if you’re a pet owner in Mecklenburg County, be on the lookout for the little yellow card concerning pet licenses in Charlotte.
