12 North Carolina Quilt Makers Sending Warmth To The Mountains
I saw this story this morning and it made me think of my Mom. She loved to make quilts for people. She would hand stitch every one and give them to friends and family with love. And that is exactly what 12 ladies from the Salisbury area are doing. These beautiful North Carolina quilt makers sending warmth and love to the mountains.

According to our source, the Salisbury Post, these ladies call themselves the Grace Quilters and they say they want to show their care and compassion with their quilting skills. This group of ladies meets once a week at Grace Lutheran Church in Salisbury. They quilt for love anyway, making and sharing for those in need.
Made With Love
Terri Brown is the coordinator of the quilting group. She says sometimes young ladies help out making the quilts and they add up pretty quickly. Here is what she tells the Salisbury Post, “They add up quick, and we donate them to anybody in this area that might have had a fire or something, we feel good about what we do”.
Usually the quilts are sent overseas as well, to help third world countries. Right now they are quilting for people in need a little closer to home. The quilts will be sent to the Asheville and Boone areas to help people in the wake of Hurricane Helene. So far the group has sent 185 quilts to the mountains.
Brown reveals through our source, that her group of quilters is not the only ones helping. “We just have a lot of wonderful people that donate,” she said, noting that they use sheets for the backing for the quilts, and people search at auctions and yard sales and “are always looking for us. Seems like these quilters are in the back of everybody’s mind of what we might need.”
Another quote from Brown in the Salisbury Post: “We are doing this because we want to wrap those in need. We want to wrap them in love,” said Brown. “Every quilt that goes out of there we bless. We just want to wrap people in love.”
Yep, this sure does remind me of my Mother. Out of all the items passed down to me and my sisters, we treasure her quilts the most. They are more valuable than gold, as she made each stitch with love. Just like these talented North Carolina quilt makers.
