Wine Wednesday Takes A Different Spin This Week At A Charlotte Crowd Pleaser

When we think of ‘wine Wednesday’ we often imagine half price bottles at our favorite restaurant, club or bar.  However, this week the term takes a completely different spin at a fun Charlotte spot I visited years ago.  It’s the Wine Wednesday PlantHouse workshop.

So, Valentine’s Day happens to land on a Wednesday this year.  And, as I was searching for related activities to share, I stumbled upon an old favorite in Charlotte.  It’s the PlantHouse on Park Rd. in the Dilworth area.

Right during the early stages of the pandemic I visited The PlantHouse with a friend.  It was a Saturday morning, and our guys were golfing.  There wasn’t much we were allowed to do at that point during COVID.  But, this activity was still operating.

PlantHouse opened in October of 2020 in Park Square Shopping Center.  And, the unique aspect of PlantHouse is there’s a chance to shop, have a drink and build your own terrarium.  The day we visited, the process was pretty simple and fun.  We selected our vessel.  And, the cost depended on the size and type of vessel we chose.

Then, we situated ourselves at a large table with all the supplies we needed to assemble our project.  And, we just added whatever plants, rocks, moss, etc. we desired.  Oh, and yes, for just a few bucks we purchased a mimosa to sip while we created.  We had a blast.  And, we had a beautiful terrarium to take home!

So, although the ‘Galentine’s Day’ workshop at PlantHouse the day before Valentine’s is sold out, there’s availability for the Wine Wednesday Terrarium in a Bottle Workshop.  It takes place Wednesday, February 14, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.  The entry is $22 and includes one recycled bottle, your choice of three succulents of cacti, decor to spruce it up and a clear stand to display it.  The website says the workshop has allowed PlantHouse to keep over 1000 glass bottles out of landfills.

Therefore, if you still need Valentine’s plans, check it out.  Info and sign ups are all on the website.  And, PlantHouse has locations all over North and South Carolina, as well as Georgia and Virginia.

It’s the season of love as we slowly wait for Valentine’s Day. It’s the day we celebrate being in a relationship, celebrate being single, or wish we were in a relationship. From what to get to what to do, it’s so many things that rush through your mind during this time of year. So, I decided to start looking up some ideas and see what is happening. While looking, I saw a few restaurants are having certain Valentine’s Day specials that would really do you some good. You can imagine, from discounted food to free desserts to special menus, the options are endless. So, check out what restaurant deals are happening that you could enjoy with your special someone in the Charlotte area.

  • Bonefish Grill

    We’re starting off with Bonefish Grill. With multiple locations throughout the Charlotte area, there may be one close by in your area. To honor the season of love, Bonefish Grill is adding the Scallop & Shrimp Filet Mignon entrée to their menu February 2-Feruary 15. They also have other yummy winter specials and desserts that you can take a bite of for dinner during this time.

  • Chick-Fil-A

    Now, this may not be fine dining but who doesn’t enjoy the great taste of Chick-Fil-A. This Valentine’s Day you can get the heart shaped trays completed with 30 nuggets, 10 minis, 12 fudge brownie halves, or 6 cookies. So many options, but so much love! Chick-Fil-A is good any day of the week, but make it a little extra special during the season of love for you and your partner or the whole family to enjoy.

  • Cracker Barrel

    Here is to another spot we all know and love, but maybe never thought of it for Valentine’s Day. Cracker Barrel is offering up a Valentine’s Day special February 10-February 15. You and your guest can choose between two entrees on a set Valentine’s Day menu and get your choice of free biscuit beignets or chocolate cake for dessert to share. Sounds like a great date night meal!

  • Krispy Kreme

    Here is a little sweet treat that would be great to celebrate! Get yourself, your lover, of your kids the Valentine’s Day dozen for the chocolate lover that you know. The dozen will also include four new special donut flavors for you to give a try. HERSHEY’S also has two additional flavors including the strawberry dream and the chocolate chip caramel kreme. Whew, sounds like a dream to me for sure!

  • Melting Pot

    The Melting Pot is one of those places many love to try for Valentine’s Day or explore for a great date night with your significant other. You can book a table at the Melting Pot with a 4 course meal for $90 per person. You will have multiple options for each course and experience fondue like never before.

  • Papa John's

    There is nothing that represents Valentine’s Day more than food in the shape of a heart. The one and only heart shaped pizza is some people’s favorite each and every year. Get their heart shaped pizza for carryout or delivery from February 7-February 14.
