It’s time to start thinking about summer travel if you haven’t already. And, according to WPDE, there’s only one U.S. spot named among top 5 travel destinations for summer.

Google Flights published the findings based on the destinations that were most searched by American families planning travel between June 1 and August 31. And, Myrtle Beach came in at number 2 on the list of top 5 travel destinations for summer.
Wow. I mean, I knew Myrtle Beach, South Carolina was a popular tourist destination. But, when I look at the other spots on the top 5 destinations for summer, it’s pretty notable that Myrtle Beach made the cut at number 2. While I have visited each one of the other locations, Myrtle Beach is the one I visit most often.
After all, as a resident of South Carolina myself, Myrtle Beach is quite close to me. I have been fortunate to travel to the other spots on the top 5 travel destinations for summer. However, as I think about it, except for one, each of those trips has been work-related. LOL. But, I’ll take travel no matter how I’m blessed to get it.

So, which others made the cut? Well, Aruba came in at number 5. And, I highly recommend it. We went there last September for an anniversary trip. It was beautiful and relaxing.

Cancun came in at number four, Jamaica third, and Turks and Caicos was the number one most searched in the top 5 travel destinations for summer. I definitely agree with that one! On a work trip last year, we were fortunate enough to be at an all inclusive resort. And, we had a blast.

Now, as for Myrtle Beach. I know it gets it’s fair share of criticism. And, I understand those critiques. But, it’s like a second home to us. Our son goes to college in nearby Conway. Plus, our friends have a condo where we’ve spent many summer vacations. And, our wonderful memories we treasure.

We consider ourselves blessed to have a great circle of friends. I prefer to keep my tribe relatively small. That being said, our best friends we take most of our trips with are part of that tribe. And, when our sons were young we started a tradition of celebrating July 4th at Myrtle Beach. It’s something we look forward to. And, we treasure all our memories even more now that our boys are less available to us at 21 years old. So, through the years we found favorite spots we continue to visit each time. And, I thought it would be fun to share the 8 restaurants we visited during our annual Myrtle Beach South Carolina vacation this year.
There’s a time and a place for referencing scientifically arrived at data to determine the “best” of things.
