Intern’s Corner With Olivia: Attending the Dale Earnhardt Jr Event At Walmart
Welcome back to my corner! My name is Olivia Bucco, I am the Fall 2019 Digital Content Intern for Beasley Media Group. Yesterday I was able to work with videographer, Mark Borja, on coverage for the Dale Earnhardt Jr event at Walmart, courtesy of Nicorette. Be sure to check out the gallery we created here!
We spent the afternoon hanging out with the Country 1037 crew and interacting with guests. Thanks to Mark, I had the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of shooting photos at these kinds of events. We started with capturing location photos and then moved onto fan interactions. It was amazing being able to capture the excitement everyone had while waiting for Dale Earnhardt Jr’s arrival.
As Dale was arriving, we moved down the line to capture fan’s reactions as they saw him for the first time. We fed off the excitement of the crowd and eagerly began to snap photos of his arrival. Dale began meeting and interacting with his fans and we were lucky enough to be apart of it. Mark and I had an amazing opportunity to capture many incredible moments of fans meeting their hero. It was astonishing to see so many creative items people had brought to get signed by Dale Earnhardt Jr himself. We saw fans bring up racecar tires, car hoods, cardboard cutouts, miniature cars and more. Fun fact, as he was signing items I noticed he is left-handed.
My Perspective:
Going into the day I was nervous, unsure of what to expect, I had never been to a meet and greet before, let alone be responsible for coverage on one. However, from the moment we arrived at Walmart I felt calm. Mark was a great help in showing me how to cover the event. I asked a lot of questions and was able to learn a lot from him. I enjoyed my afternoon with the Country 1037 crew and I am very thankful to have had the opportunity to cover such a great event for Beasley Media Group.
