The U.S. News and World report just released a list of the best hotels in the nation and nine local hotels were on the list. Several Charlotte, North Carolina hotels are named the best in the United States. My husband and I just visited one of them recently. Here is what we thought.
The Charlotte Business Journal says the three uptown Charlotte hotels that are on the list are: The Grand Bohemian, The Ivey’s Hotel and the place we just stayed, The Ritz- Carlton. These three received gold badge status.
The criteria is varied in the “badge system”, a measure of the quality and value of the hotel. They keep in mind things like quality of the room, location. amenities and of course service. I can tell you my honest opinion of the Ritz- Carlton in uptown Charlotte. We booked it for the location. But got so much more.
We were heading uptown for a concert and wanted to stay within walking distance, that is one reason why we chose “The Ritz”. We made a pre Valentine’s date of it. The lobby was amazing, valet service of course. Even tho it was restaurant week and there wasn’t a dinner reservation in town, they got one for us in the hotel restaurant right away. Honestly the room was nice but not as nice as I was expecting. But the service was incredible!! And that jazz in the lobby Saturday night was the best jazz I have ever heard in my life. It is worth the price for a very special night out in the big city. Speaking of love sweet love…
These Are North Carolina's Top Ten Country Love Songs
Is there anything better than being in true sweet love? No genre of music moves love along better than country music. We all have our favorite. But these are North Carolina’s favorite country love songs. We went straight to the experts and surveyed over five thousand country music fans in both North and South Carolina through social media. And then put together a list of the top ten best country love songs from 1995 til now.
My first crush was a little boy in my Shelby neighborhood, shout out to “Doug”. Doug gave me my very first case of butterflies in the stomach. One day I got up the courage to ask Doug to be my boyfriend. He said yes and gave me a peck on the cheek. The George Strait song, “Check Yes or No” leaps to mind. I knew right then I wanted that feeling to last forever. Doug and I did not last. But other loves came along periodically along the way. No genre does love better than country music. Every story song takes you right back as if you never left that particular relationship.
There are so many great country love songs. Really the list is endless. Even though I have been playing country music on the radio for a couple of decades now, I needed five thousand plus local country music fans to let me know their favorites. You delivered some great ones.
