Dogs Respond Better To Baby Talk
Who’s the prettiest best girl ? We talk to Winnie like that a lot in our best baby voice. Our dog knows we are talking about her and to her. Science backs up the fact that dogs actually prefer it when you talk to them that way. Dogs respond better to baby talk.
A study found that talking to your dog like you would a baby is a great way to build a positive relationship with your four legged baby. Dr. Katie Slocombe from the University of York, wanted to see if there was basis in fact to the playful way many owners talk to their dogs.
Here is what they did. Researchers gathered 37 dogs and put them in rooms with people saying different phrases in different ways. The dogs first listened to the person talking to them like they were speaking to a baby with the classic high pitched voice couples with phrases like “Who’s a good boy?” In a separate room researchers spoke to the dogs in flatter tones with adult directed speech.
Scientists watched the dogs to see who they responded to the most and found that they chose to spend more time with those who used baby talk.
The AKC apparently agrees with these findings, to learn more get details right here.
