South Carolina Father Cashes In On Food Network’s Guy’s Grocery Games
Y’all, I am one of the biggest Food Network watchers on the planet. And, this week a Father’s Day themed episode of popular competition show “Guy’s Grocery Games” aired. But, this one was extra special since it included a South Carolina father as one of the competitors. Plus, in the episode, the South Carolina father wins!
According to AXIOS Charlotte, Tim Harris, a Fort Mill, South Carolina father of two, took his love of cooking to the bank on the popular competition show. Harris is an auditor at an insurance company and has no formal training as a chef. But, Harris was able to shop smartly in Guy’s “Flavortown Market” and put those items together for winning dishes. And, yes, contestants had to tell some “dad jokes” as part of a challenge!
The special Dad’s themed episode aimed to highlight dads who cook, in honor of Father’s Day. And, although he’s not a chef by trade, Harris indicated during the game that he does most of the cooking in his home. He took us back to the pandemic when he relied on memories of dishes he loved at restaurants in Charlotte. And, during the lockdown he worked to recreate those dishes in his own home.
And, like many of us who dabble in the kitchen, he posted pictures of his dishes on Instagram. His “Dapper Dads Kitchen” account is what led to Food Network finding Harris. And, after browsing his food photos, I believe Harris could be a pro chef if he wanted. His food looks delicious.
So, congrats to the South Carolina father on his big win. And, Happy Father’s Day! If you want to see how the South Carolina father wins, check the Food Network schedule for re-airings. And see AXIOS for Harris’ full story.
