New name proposed for a massive development in North Carolina. The Huntersville Lagoona Bay project will now be called something different and will look different than originally proposed.
Jake Palilo, the developer on the project made the announcement on social media and reported by Channel 9 in Charlotte. So the newly proposed name is simply “Waterside”. Waterside will have lots of, well, water. There will be several man made ponds and lakes. There will be an area for restaurants and shops as well as condos called “Waterside Village”.
Lagoona Bay Beach Club will keep that name and remain part of the south side of the development. There will be a reported 8 acre lagoon there. The Waterside plan is massive covering 263 acres on both sides of Sam Furr Road in Huntersville. The Waterside Village has been redesigned the most out of any section of the place. According to Channel 9 the the proposed convention center and hotel and 212 condos have been taken out of the plan.
So what happens now? The developer reportedly says he hopes to get approval from the planning board in August. A decision from the town board could come as early as September.
