Got Beer? New South Carolina Law Changing How We Buy Craft Beer
Two words seem to be all the buzz lately. Craft beer. Anytime we go on Sunday Fun Days we try a variety of craft beers. And, a new South Carolina craft beer law could be changing how you buy the brew. According to Live5News, the South Carolina law that went into effect earlier this summer alters how much beer customers take home each day from craft breweries. The other part of the law concerns breweries with multiple “like-owned” locations and transfer of product without requiring a sale to a wholesaler before a buy back.
So, what does this mean for the consumer? Well, before the “South Carolina Craft Beer Economic Development Act”, sales limited the amount to 288 ounces. That’s the same as a case of 12 ounce cans. The new legislation ups that to 864 ounces or three cases of 12 ounce cans. Or, perhaps customers choose two cases of 16 ounce cans. And, you might be wondering what limits are in North Carolina. There is no limit restricting the amount of beer you can take home each day from the brewery in North Carolina.
Therefore, with the neighboring states competing for the much sought after craft beer business this makes South Carolina better able to step in. Business owners like the possibilities the new South Carolina craft beer law gives in increasing dollars in the state along with tourism.
Typically, I stick to craft cocktails for the most part. But, I enjoy some of the local craft beers and ciders. I lean toward some of the sour flavored ones with bright and lighter flavor. So, start planning your own craft beer adventure or at home party. And, take a look at the full story with all details concerning the new South Carolina law changing how we buy craft beer.
