Beloved Dog Lost From Carowinds Months Ago Gets Tearful Surprise Reunion With Family In North Carolina
Ok, I am all in for anything related to dogs. So, this one really tugged at me. Earlier this year in April, a Buffalo, New York family took a camping trip to Carowinds Camp Wilderness accompanied by their beloved dog, Lucy. However, the fun family vacation turned to sadness. Fireworks at the park frightened the family pet who ran from the campground. And, according to WCNC, the family tried everything they could to find their dog lost from Carowinds for months. However, their efforts proved futile. But, that all changed this week when search teams found Lucy . And, the family reunited with their beloved dog in a surprise discovery.
After Lucy’s unfortunate escape from the campground in April, the Calteaux family stayed in the area as long as possible assisting in search efforts. But, even after they had to return to New York, folks in Charlotte kept the searches going. There were communities of volunteers combing the woods. And, teams posted flyers and marched in parades in dog costumes in hopes of getting more notice for the sweet dog lost from Carowinds. Plus, there was even a Facebook group consisting of thousands sharing posts of missing stray golden retrievers like Lucy.
Furthermore, Tucker K-9 Search & Rescue joined in the efforts to help find Lucy. The family feared someone in the campground picked Lucy up and took her with them. And, just as it seemed all hope was lost, something changed. WCNC anchor Vanessa Ruffes invited the family on virtually under the pretense of giving an update on their missing pet. But, to their surprise it was much more. The Calteaux family got the news they prayed for concerning their dog lost from Carowinds all those months ago. Lucy appeared on screen. And, as you can imagine they broke into tears. I was watching, and I cried, too!
And, searchers theorize that someone may have indeed had Lucy for a while. But, with this week’s severe storms she possibly broke free again. And, they found her Tuesday morning in Ballantyne. Dana Calteaux explained that Lucy joined the family during COVID. And, also, Dana’s dad died from COVID. So, this family pet meant so much to them. Well, the family immediately started the drive to Charlotte to retrieve Lucy saying, “We’ll see you in about 12 hours, buddy! Oh, sweetie, you’re going to get microchip, GPS.” And, just like that the family reunited with Lucy Wednesday morning. Tissues, please! Visit WCNC for the full story.
