Oatmeal Raisin Cookies Get A Makeover With This Surprise New Food Hack
Oatmeal cookie mix combines with Raisinets boxed candy to create an unbelievably delicious new cookie with this simple oatmeal cookie food hack.
I absolutely adore creating new dishes. And, I guess you could say I’m a bit of a self proclaimed “foodie.” So, when we asked listeners to share their own “food hacks” on our radio show recently, we learned a lot. It started about a hack we read where folks sprinkled taco seasoning on movie popcorn. Sounds good. Then, someone mentioned tossing Raisinets candy into their movie popcorn. Genius. And, that turned my brain to another possibility for Raisinets. It’s an unbelievable oatmeal raisin cookie hack! I wondered if you could make Oatmeal Raisin cookies with the chocolate covered raisins instead of plain ones?
Well, it turns out you can. I promptly made it my weekend mission to try the oatmeal raisin cookie hack. I worried that the chocolate might just melt into the cookie. However, that didn’t happen at all. Surprisingly, the Raisinets stayed in tact and just added a little bit of chocolate flavor to enhance that delightfully familiar oatmeal raisin treat. By the way, the oatmeal raisin cookie has always been my favorite. It’s the first thing I ever baked as a kid. I was in fifth grade and needed something for the school bake sale. It was “Mrs. Good Cookie” place and bake. Who remembers those?
Anyway, I kept the experiment easy to test the raisinet oatmeal cookie hack. I bought a simple pouch of plain oatmeal raisin cookie mix. The mix only required butter, egg and water. So, I mixed it up according to package directions. Then, I bought a box of Raisinets candy from the movie candy aisle at the grocery store. Fearful of overdoing it, I only tossed in about half the box to the mixed up dough. But, next time I will use the whole box. Regardless, they were fantastic. The only problem was I devoured about half of the 2 dozen! And, maybe next time I’ll add them to chocolate chip cookies!
You Won't Believe These Dorm Room Food Hacks & Combinations
College is a wild time for a lot of reasons. Sometimes that meal plan just doesn’t cut it and you find yourself eating in the dorm. But cooking in one? Even if you’re lucky enough to have a kitchen, can be dicey. This leads to having to come up with some interesting dorm room meal hacks and students eating ‘interesting’ combinations of food.
Website Student Beans conducted a study on the eating habits of college students. They asked current students about their experiences with food in college. That study showed that students are getting more ‘creative’ with their food combinations than ever before. With often just a microwave to cook out of a little inventiveness goes a long way. This includes things like using coffee pots to cook pasta, pairing things like popcorn and ketchup?!, and more. Another weird combination that made the list? Kylie Jenner’s favorite avocado and honey.
Additional popular pairings include:
- Cheese pizza with pineapple, onions, and mushrooms with ranch to dip it in
- Pickles and fruit roll-ups
- Peanut butter and lemon
- Scrambled eggs and syrup
- Ice cream and french fries
French fries and ice cream I can get behind. If you say you’ve never tried your fries dipped in a Wendy’s Frosty I refuse to believe you. While doing the study Student Beans discovered that the #dormfood on TikTok has over 93 million views and counting. Some of these videos reminded me of my time cooking in a dorm. The best idea we had? S’mores. It snowed and we wanted to roast marshmallows. Obviously, that’s not possible in a dorm. But that didn’t stop us. After a few tries in the microwave (melts them but not toasted) we went outside. While not the most time-efficient we were able to roast marshmallows with a lighter and create the perfect dorm room s’more Here are 5 of the best viral TikTok dorm food hacks:
