This Moore County woman ran out and ran in the Quality Mart on Old US 1 South in Southern Pine to get her fix. She added a Powerball ticket to her purchase and that's when the magic happened.

She tells our source WNCT, “I didn’t plan to stop there that day, but I remembered I was out of Diet Mountain Dew,” she laughed. “I guess I have my thirst to thank.” Indeed you Dew.  See what I did there. Here are the mechanics of how it happened. Rose matched the numbers on the white balls and the red ball which garnered $50,000. Then the 2x multiplier hit and her winnings jumped to $100,000.

So, the question is how will Rose spend all that money.  First thing she reportedly did was call her fiance and share the news with him. She also reportedly plans to share the prize with him. “I called him on the phone and said, ‘I think I won $100,000’’. They each claimed $50,000 and after taxes went home with $35,625.  Rose Anderson seems like a woman with a giving spirit.  She says she plans to pay off some bills and help other people with her winnings.

11. Florida

10. New York

9. Wisconsin

8. Arizona

7. New Jersey
