Kelsea Ballerini Blasts Rumor That She Lip-Synced At The Opry
Kelsea Ballerini got pretty pissed off when she played the Grand Ole Opry stage a few weeks back, and fans accused her of lip-syncing her performance. Kelsea vented her frustration on her TikTok.
She said in a video sitting in her Nashville area home, “One more time for the Karens in the back, you’re telling me that you think I would stand on the stage at the Grand Ole Opry, where I’m a member, in front of peers such as but not limited to, Wynonna Judd, Blake Shelton, Toby Keith, etc… televised, singing a song I wrote by myself about the d-word (divorce) and I would lip-sync?”
She pauses and says, “After I spell it out, you do feel a little bit silly. I could never and never have, and I would like to think I never will. If I do, I’ll tell you, just like I would tell you if I did, but I didn’t because that’s asinine. Okay, bye!”
Speaking of Karens — the good kind — Ballerini played the Grand Ole Opry stage last night (11/28) in Nashville and welcomed her friend, Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild. She also welcomed songwriter Hillary Lindsey to perform.
The Opry posted a photo of the trio on stage on Instagram, writing, “Tuesday nights in the circle just hit a little different…”

Fairchild co-wrote Kelsea’s “Heart First” single with Ballerini and Nashville songwriter Alysa Vanderheym. Ballerini said of “Heart First” when it was released as a single that it was the first song that she ever wrote where she did not come up with the title first; instead, the opening line, “Met him at a party/ Accidentally brushed his body/ On the way to get a drink at the bar” was the first lyric she wrote for the song. After recording the demo with Vanderheym and Fairchild, she began recording the song in early 2022.
